NRA Goals

NRA Goals and Activities:

We act on behalf of Northcote Residents in protecting our quality of life and developing the hatural, historical, infrastructural and community assets in our area.

The People we Serve:

  • Residents and Ratepayers
  • Local businesses who provide products and services to members of the local community
  • Community and sporting groups and clubs in the area
  • Visitors to the area who use the community facilities
  • Other community groups who represent the interests of the area

Our Area of Interest:

The NRA covers pretty much the boundaries of the old Northcote Borough Council – in the south by the harbour shoreline, in the east by the motorway, in the north by Northcote and Ocean View Roads to the intersection of Raleigh Road and in the west by Little Shoal Bay, Le Roy’s bush to the interection point with Kauri Glen Road .

How We Operate:

  • We interact with the residents, agencies, local government and other, as a lobby group on behalf of our community
  • We organise public meetings to inform residents on topical issues
  • We directly disseminate information to keep the community informed and maintain a web sitewhich is accessible to all stakeholders
  • We seek ideas, feedback and support from the local community
  • Where it is deemed necessary, we take affirmative action on specific issues that affect the community as a whole
  • We also take action on issues that are seen to have a negative impact on the community in the future.

Guiding Principles:

The Association gives particular priority to the following key categories – but will also consider other non-related issues on a case-by-case basis if they have the potential to impact upon our stakeholders and community at large:

  • Impact on quality of life and lifestyle in the area
  • Impact on delivery of essential services and infrastructure
  • Impact on the natural heritage of the area
  • Impact on historical aspects of the area
  • Demonstrable public safety issues

While a consultative approach is preferred, the association will take incrementally stronger steps where any proposal is significant and requires stronger action.
